1. OUT NOW!
Karlostheunhappy is delighted to be among those chosen to scrape the rawness and bite the concrete in High Rise published by the Broken Spine press (from Broken Spine Arts), a great little outsider imprint. Get your JG Ballad fix in urban verse and grab yourself a copy.
2. WIP
His essay/article/interview piece on the Horovitz family, in particular Michael and the British Beat connections, is now with Adam Horovitz for answering an e-interview, but he's moved it forward with responses by Grandchildren of Albion poets, Zoe Brooks and Atilla the Stockbroker. Bill Lewis who also appeared in Horovitz's 80s update on his Penguin-published survey of underground poets, The Children of Albion, separately talks about Michael in a wider overview of Lewis' work in the forthcoming anthology and essay collection, BeatSurreal.
3. Got a LIKE from Toby Litt
Toby Litt, author of numerous books with major publishers, lecturer in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, gave his review, entitled 'resurrection song: A READING', of George Wallace's last book a like when he made a call out for more unusual book reviews. You can still read it on the Gloomy for Pleasure website (
gloomyforpleasure.com) - and an expanded version with an interview with Wallace (former poet in residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum and still a coordinator of their literary programme).
4. WORK ACCEPTED / COMING SOON!
He's pleased to have a new piece 'Humanity at Night' with the Broken Spine Arts' forthcoming 'Glow: City at Night Poetry', to be released April 28th.
The piece makes reference to 'Drinking Alone in the Moonlight' by Li Bai and my listening suggestion for the poem is 'Seattle Song' by the Tord Gustavsen Trio from their album 'Seeing' (on ECM, 2024), if you want to get ahead and in the mood.
