Take your verse to the next level – is a five-month in-person course beginning on 2 February through to 15 June. Tutors Kate Potts, Philip Rush and Jonathan Davidson – all published poets and experienced teachers – will each offer two
in-person afternoon sessions with themes including - Origins: Finding Your Voice, Rhyme, Rhythm & Silence and The Creativity of Editing. Monthly meet-ups are supplemented with zoom check-ins and optional mentoring, as well as reading, study and poetry practice.
“When you’re hooked on poetry, there’s nothing you can do. It’s a pilgrimage with all the trappings – slog, dust, despair and staring at geckos. There is a ‘there’ you are trying to get to – it’s a mirage. Sometimes, it’s good to acknowledge that the writing of poetry is a skill you never stop learning.” says poet and organiser Caroline Shaw. “The course is for poets with some experience who want more study and commitment but do not have the means to do an MA (or similar). We have kept pricing low and concessions are available.”
