About Us

Gloucestershire Writers’ Network will be what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We only collect basic personal data about you which does not include any special types of information or location based information. This does however include name, address, email, phone number.
We are an organisation which connects writing groups, competitions and events around Gloucestershire. We allow people to email in their events to add to our calendar on our website. There is also a blog on the site, where people can also email in to submit news/reviews. We organise a yearly competition associated with The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival where people submit poems and stories to win prizes. We take submissions through a form on our website and payment is taken via PayPal.

Why we need your data

We need to know your basic personal data to provide you with on-going organisational updates by sending you regular Newsletters. We also need your personal data when you submit an entry to one of our competitions, when you request to add an event to our calendar and when you submit a News item to us. We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not require.

What we do with your data

All the personal data is processed by our staff in the UK. Our website is Hosted in Devon, United Kingdom. No 3rd parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so. We do not sell your personal data onto any third parties.

How long we keep your data

We are allowed under UK law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a maximum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed. Your information we use for marketing purposes will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.
