Chapel Arts is pleased to present a celebration of Flash Fiction on Saturday 2 April 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00. Flash Fiction is an increasingly popular form for short stories usually of less than a thousand words. It’s a format that offers writers surprising richness and variety, despite the restricted length. So, do join four local exponents for an afternoon of original stories, all chosen to engage, delight, surprise and amuse you, and read to you by their authors Fiona Cameron, Diana Humphrey, Trish Fariello and William Lewis. And as if that’s not enough, you may refresh your ears with musical interludes from legendary Exeter guitarist John Fitzsimons. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Writing has always been a strong part of our writers’ lives. Between us we’ve covered a range of writing styles from poetry and short stories to play scripts, sketches, book reviews and song lyrics. We all enjoy the economy and possibilities offered by Flash Fiction. Between us we’ve read and performed at various festivals and events and have seen our stories published. Diana has twice been winner of the Stroud Short Stories competition, and Trisha is currently pursuing an MA in Creative Writing. We hope to bring you both humour and darkness (Fiona describes some of her work as ‘bitter chocolate’) as we offer you a joyous celebration of the Flash Fiction form, and the wonderful, rich language in which we journey.
Venue: Chapel Arts, Knapp Road, Cheltenham GL50 3QQ
