Sharon Larkin has recently been appointed as Gloucestershire Representative of The Poetry Society (London)
Stanza reps will be meeting at The Poetry Society in London on 28 March. The occasion will include an exchange of news from each of the (County) Stanzas represented.
As the Glos Stanza has not been active up until now, Sharon will attend in a mostly ‘receive mode’ to learn what activities and events the other Stanzas offer their respective counties and communities, and especially to looking for ideas to bring back to Gloucestershire.
Sharon is keen to spot any ‘gaps’ and ‘opportunities’ for Gloucestershire poets, and will specifically be finding out more about regular Stanza competitions, and how Glos. poets who are actual or prospective members of The Poetry Society (London), can take better advantage of what is on offer to them.
She will be feeding back from the London Meeting 7 pm on Tuesday 9 April in the Bache Room, Parmoor House, 13 Lypiatt Terrace, in Cheltenham. There is a new GloStanza group on Facebook to advertise the event and to share information.
You are cordially invited to come to the feedback event. Sharon will give a short presentation on learning and is keen to collect views and ideas what poetry activities Glos Stanza might look to offer
If any gaps in the Gloucestershire Poetry offer are identified, it is hoped a steering group will form from those interested in taking the Stanza forward. One area may be in giving greater exposure to the Stanza Poetry Competitions open to members of The Poetry Society (London). There may also be opportunities for collaborative activities with existing groups locally.
If you are interested to know more, or discuss possibilities, ahead of 9 April, you are invited to contact Sharon direct, via the GloStanza Facebook Group or the GloStanza Twitter account.
