We meet in Gloucester every Monday evening except on Bank Holidays. We’re a friendly group who believe that sharing our work is important, because gaining feedback is the only way to make good writing even better. Those who have brought some prose or a poem, distribute copies and read the piece while the others listen and make notes. Then we go around the room making constructive comments, saying what we especially like and making suggestions for possible improvements. The authors then have an opportunity to reply. They may use the comments to modify their work or they can ignore them—after all, it’s their work!
The process sounds formal, but really it isn’t! We always have a lot of fun sharing what we’ve written. No previous experience is necessary. Beginners and new members are always welcome.
We also hold ‘spoken word events’ once or twice a year, at Peppers Café, 2 Bull Lane, Gloucester GL1 2HG.
