Writer Sophie Gaudier-Brzeska was a resident of Wotton-under-Edge from 1916 to 1922. She passed away in 1925 as a resident of Coney Hill Asylum in Gloucester.
She has an amazing story and her writings are being translated by Essex University. More info about her here
Sophie's Centenary Celebrations have been organized in partnership with Hundred Heroines Museum in Nailsworth and Heritage Centre of Wotton-under-Edge. There will be a wide range of creative activities celebrating this remarkable writer and poet, exhibitions related to her work, readings, talks, walks following her routes in the hills, screening of Savage Messiah, workshops, performances.
