Writing for Peace
Following the successful Writing for Peace event in Tintern Abbey last September, we are currently putting together an anthology of poems, short stories (max 1500 words) and short pieces of prose on the following themes:
World Peace – Peace between nations and cultures
Peace with Nature
Inner Peace
At the moment we have about 50 pieces to include but we would like to increase this to 100 or more for the anthology, to represent as many local authors as possible and reflect all the talent in the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Gloucestershire.
We also welcome submissions from young people of which we only have a handful currently.
Submissions should include your name and young people should also include their age. All submissions should be sent to tinternwaystopeace@gmail.
The best pieces will be published in the anthology ready for this year’s International Day of Peace in September 2019. Those chosen will be notified by mid-July and funds raised from sales of the anthology will be used to support a variety of charities, yet to be decided.

GWN Calendar
The team at GWN continue to grow and develop the website as a Hub for all local writers.
As part of our ongoing process of improvement, we have recently upgraded the Events Calendar Section.
This is a good time for those of you running or sponsoring an event to check out the latest calendar, and make sure you are happy with the content and how this is displayed.
Content wise, we usually publish the copy you have provided but things do change - guests, dates, times etc.
Now is a good a time as any to take a fresh look at the web site and let us know if there are any tweaks or changes to be made.
Please email info to Guy admin@gloswriters.org.uk
Thank you

GWN Competition Launch 2019
The Annual GWN competition, in association with The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, has been launched today.
2019 COMPETITION THEME
The festival theme of ‘7 at 70′ pays homage to it’s 70th anniversary but we have simplified our writing competition theme to –
‘NUMBERS’
… This can be interpreted widely and creatively. For some tips and ideas, judges’ thoughts and how to enter, head over to our Competition section
We are also delighted to announce this year’s judges, who we think will be superb. Not only are they are both excellent at their own crafts and wonderful readers but lovely individuals whose expertise will be invaluable to those more experienced or new to writing.
Prose Judge: Amanda Reynolds
